  1. Hello Mike,
First off thanks for being a Rock star and answering everyone’s questions, a lot of people don’t do that.
This is a super comprehensive list, but I’m looking of a standalone mobile Tablet and I’m a bit confused on what is self contained or not. I’m a Professional Artist and need full range of the adobe products. Also if possible full function of some 3D and CAD software like Marvelous Designer, Sketch Up pro or ToonBoom. I’d like to be able to carry this around in my purse for all the random moments of inspiration between the city & hikes so I’m also curious about battery life.

I also heard that now the standard Ipad is compatible with the Pen (which cuts the price tag down) But is it still a good option? Waccom is still my top choice but the price tag is still a bit much for me at the moment.

    Thank you for your advice!

    1. Hello Jazmyn,
Well, an iPad is a great choice for drawing, but for Abode products, I won’t recommend you to go with it as they have narrowed down the features to basics. You won’t get that full host of tools that you get on the Windows or Mac.

Considering the fact that you want to carry the tablet in your purse, the Wacoms are really a great choice and their drawing tablets are truly unbeatable in terms of features and accessibility unless you don’t mind carrying a laptop with yourself every time. (Laptop/PC connection mandatory). Well, there are independent Wacoms available but they are bit pricey and I think their capabilities go way beyond your requirements as they are mostly used for Industrial works. So, not worth spending.

The best I could recommend to you for your requirements is Microsoft Surface Pro 4. It works independently of any device. Basically, a full-fledged laptop with the portability same as a tablet. You can install the full range of Adobe Products on it and get access to all the tools and features. The one with i5 processor should be fine for Photoshop & Illustrator. However, for 3D and CAD, I would recommend buying the one with i7 processor. You can draw directly on the screen with Surface Pen and it also has the ability to detect pressure sensitivity which will allow you to draw different widths of lines depending on the pressure you apply.

  2. Hi, I am looking into a birthday gift for my 11 year old. I’m debating between several of the less expensive options listed here. With the Lenovo Yoga Book, can you use it as a traditional laptop as well?

    1. Hi Meg,
Yes, it can be used as a drawing tablet and as a traditional laptop as well. Usually, when you’re not drawing the whole touch panel will convert into the keyboard which will give you a haptic feedback while typing.

  3. Hello, im 15 and i’ve been using wacom intuos manga since 2014 and im thinking to buy a new one thats affordable for a highschooler like me. Im a freelancer and sometimes book a stand in big events. Do you have any pen displays recommendations? i work with photoshop, paint tool sai and clip paint studio. Thanks!

p.s Your replies on these comments are very valuable! Those are nice informations i might need in the future, thanks!

    1. Hello, Lyan
The best I could recommend to you for your requirements is Artisul D13. It has 13.3″ full HD IPS screen on the front which is very good at color productions. It connects via USB and HDMI to a computer or laptop. The battery-free pen that comes within the package has 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity which will enable you to draw varieties of lines depending on the amount of pressure you apply.

Moreover, on the front, there are 6 Access keys which you can customize with your favorite tools or keyboard shortcuts which will help you to increase productivity. And it weighs only 2.4 pounds which will enable you to carry around in a backpack or sleeve.

  4. Hello Mike,

I’m not drawing. I’m simply using a Pen Tablet to avoid carpel tunnel syndrome which I had the tendency to get. Apple changed everything up and my Wacom Bamboo is no longer compatible / no driver support for glitches. All I want is a ergonomic pen to use instead of a mouse. The Intuos Draw doesn’t work for me – the pen is not ergonomic. Is the Wacom Pro the best? it’s on sale now. Any input would be great.
